Now picture this scene:
In Kaneohe Bay, Oahu, Hawaii are sandbars (little islands of sand topping a coral reef). You can moar your sailboat or small boat along side the sandbar, get off and walk on it, set a table and chair and sit on it. At a distance, say on land, you would appear to be walking on water. It would not be difficult to throw your net on the other side of the boat not moared to the sandbar and catch fish.
So Jesus walking on water would be a hard sell out that direction. There have been parties held on the sandbar and one place where drinking on the beach is immune by the law on the “mainland” beach parks. We don’t abuse a privilege concerning the sandbar.
We used to set up camp on the high coral beds in the middle of that bay and go fishing as well as swimming. A photo of our camp site made the Honolulu Advertiser newspaper with the caption, “No Parking Problems Here”. What fun! Unfortunately, time and tide has eroded the coral islands where that can no longer take place.
No disrespect, leowana, but almost every indigenous nation has the same stories about Jesus, because he has been there and done that. What would it purpose a person like Jesus to limit himself to one locale when the message he was carrying was for the whole world to know? And if he indeed walked on water, what other feats can he do among these nations? We are all indigenous as messengers, everyone of us are messengers. You cannot say you are not, as long as you have something to convey to others, you are a messenger. Pay heed to the message not the messenger (including Jesus) for it’s in the message that the secret to communication is held, Jesus message was from his/our Father in Heaven, agree or not agree?.
E Aloha Malama Pono!
