Indeed, "The Declaration of Independence was the promise; the Constitution was the fulfillment."
Alexander Hamilton in 1775 said...
"The sacred rights of mankind are not to be rummaged for among old parchments, or musty records. They are written, as with a sun beam in the whole volume of human nature, by the hand of the divinity itself; and can never be erased or obscured by mortal power."
The origin of liberty
The concept and purpose of Liberty rests within the mind and heart of our Creator in eternity past. The finality of that promise was secured through our Saviour when he finished the liberating work He was sent to accomplish through the shedding of His blood as the propitiation for our sin.
The proclamation of liberty throughout the land found in Leviticus 25:10 and on theLiberty Bell in Philadelphia, was fulfilled in Christ's ressurection from the dead, overcoming the power of sin and death over our lives. It's power and natural appeal to men and women made in the image of God has been proclaimed and fought for down through history.
The preservation of liberty
With our nation's history opened before our eyes through the internet - heretofore tucked away in a few libraries - Americans are rediscovering our heritage, finding renewed hope and encouragement, and our right to govern ourselves as a freed people.
The days of top down tyranny by tyrants and imposters to power who wish to lord it over us, are coming to an end if we-the-people lay hold of these self evident truths, speak truth to power, and embolden one another as citizens as God and our Founders intended.
Here are a few sites to give you more insight to the events leading to our Declaration and Constitution, albeit from a secular perspective. Through all the details, God's hand was at work in human hearts to set us free indeed.
We pray your 4th of July is a joy and blessing.
