1972, J. Berkenstein showed that info content of a black hole is proportional to the 2D surface area of it’s event horizon Gerard Hooft took it further:
If a 3 D star could be encoded on a black hole 2D event horizon, maybe the same could be true of the whole universe. The universe does after all have a horizon 42 billion light years away beyond which point light could not have had time to reach us since the big Bang. It is suggested that the 2D surface may encode the entire 3D universe, much like the 3D hologram on a credit card. ,It has been long suspected that space time is pixilated, or grainy since the 2D surface cannot store sufficient to render a 3D object perfectly .

If anything ,brain scanning has undermined Decartes maxim ,” I think therefore I am ” might be an illusion realizing this years ago I completed his adage , ,I think ,therefore I am, I think!
So it might be that you live in a computer simulation in which you are only
self aware creature ……Since there is no individual self to be found as projection, Buddhist speculations on this subject of no self could easily be correct and apply .
Parallel universe worlds are an unavoidable consequence of our standard
theory this is not idle speculation ,it does not depend on the Multiverse theories of “many worlds” interpretations of Quantum Mechanics, in which the universe constantly bifurcates, it is an unavoidable consequence of the standard theory of our universe . Our universe is akin to a bubble and beyond it an infinite number of other bubbles
that have similar restricted views.
The universe ends……..
If space vacuum does decay, it will be a spherical shock-front, traveling at slightly less than the speed of light, such an end is inevitable as vacuum
will drop into a negative energy state. after this transformation, space would
exert strong gravity of it’s own, pulling whats left of the Universe into a big “Crunch”
this need not be the end of everything if we are part of a Multiverse as some predict there is hope that the Cosmos will endure and our local universe has hope of resurrection and that a new universe could arrive from the ashes ( in a “Big Bounce” and a random fluctuation might spark a new big bang, Perhaps existence will never end .
The universe is strange enough to deal with just including a 3D projection emerging from a 2D matrix without the New Age pseudo science trying to include additional dimensions for we are permanently locked for our short existence of 2D and emergent 3D. reality.
Your life long sense of self is intimately tied to your body, but how much of that body stays with you for life? the answer is “Surprisingly little, if you live to be 75 , the vast majority of your body will be younger than” you “are .
All which puts the idea of lifelong personal identity into perspective, Imagine being given a car on the day your were born. Over the next 75 years you gradually replace almost every part from tail pipe to to headlights, a few bits and pieces remain but is it really the same car ? think about it ..
