Can someone please do all of us a huge favour and bomb Libyan State TV to stop the totally false propaganda and the hate broadcasts.

All that Libyan State TV does is try to make Qaddafi a hero that is fighting a Christian Crusade and a rebel army that is high on drugs and are members of Al Qaida.

The sooner Libyan State TV is taken out the sooner Qaddafi will stop spreading false fears to our Libyan people and the weaker his military will become.
  • I know we all feel this but we don't say it enough. Al Jazeera has been doing a fantastic job of covering Libya and the rest of the events in the region.

I grew up in apartheid South Africa and played a minor role in defending the media against a police state so I have some idea of what you are up against, though I've never actually been in a war zone.

What really annoys me in situations like this is people with old cold war mentalities who see the whole thing in terms of evil empires of the west vs. the nice lefty people's ruler. Gaddafi is a military dictator who has co-opted the language of the left. Obama is not Bush or Reagan. We got that too with Zimbabwe. Mugabe is not an icon of the liberation struggle, he's a con. He swans around in an antique Rolls-Royce while his people starve. How this is represented as a victory of the left is an insult to many great people of the left who've fought injustice over many decades.

Al Jazeera's honest reporting is a great counter to this kind of muddy thinking. I know the cost to you is high, with at least one of your people killed already. Just so you know it's really appreciated. Especially as I now live in Australia where the group-think Murdoch media only live to deceive.

Finally in case this was missed in all the other comments on previous days: how do you know when Gaddafi is lying? His lips move.

    Posting this again:

1403: From BBC News: Armchair Arab tweets: "To anyone disagreeing with UN strikes in Libya, put your family in a town targeted by Gaddafi and then see if you still disagree."

It doesnt matter if no one supports the opposition individuals. He bombed towns. He is a criminal. Gaddafi must leave.

The goal of the UN mission is to protect the civilians. But they can't really be protected with Gadhafi in power since in Libya it's a crime to protest against Gadhafi because his definition of the people is : "the people are those who love me" (so he is always right when he says the people loves him). The others are terorists. The only way to assure the civilians will be protected without maintaining a NFZ (witch is not even enough) is to oust Gadhafi from power.
So the goal of the UN mission is to remove Gadhafi from power and to have free elections (if he's popular, like the regime pretend, he should be elected with a majority).

I think the coalition don't want to say the mission is to remove Gadhafi because they don't want the rebels to wait the coalition to remove Gadhafi but to actively participate, since they are the only troops on the ground.
Obama said it : it's the right and the responsability of the people to choose his future.

The mission could not end with Gadhafi in power, no meter the time it will take. The people of Libya is very courageous and they will succeed. Libya will be free after this intervention. I never been in Libya but I followed all the events and I have all the admiration for these people now.
  • American government Cartel of murderers, cowards, liers, thiefs and all kind of trash words I cans say are not enough to describe what they are doing to humanity and to mother earth, but all of them and all of the people who support them and their horrible acts again humanity will pay some day. Look yourselves in the Japanese mirror, look well because some day you will be in the same place.
  • According to the best rated reactions about 95% of the votes of this blog went to anti-Kaddafi!

So OK until today more than 600 western missiles have damaged libyan army and civil assets, the idea of West coalition was use the rebels as ground troops but we are seeing that rebels don't do any kind of advance... People wake up! People from libya doesn't want them (they don't want the Idris Senoussi tribe to rule them again) and they will newer pass beyond Adjabiya!!. I'd also like to point that Warfallah tribe is now loyal to Gaddafi (they are more than 1000000).

    Sarko, this smells like... failure.

    Sorry little Napoleon.
